Careers and UCAS

6th Form@Swakeleys students consistently progress to a wide range of excellent destinations, including the most competitive and prestigious universities and apprenticeships. This is due to the high quality advice, information and guidance provided throughout their time in the 6th Form.

Our UCAS support begins at the start of Year 12, ensuring that students prepare long-term for their chosen path and utilise the school’s links with universities and the outreach programmes on offer. Students receive detailed support and guidance on preparing for the UCAS process, including personal statement-writing workshops and extensive feedback during the drafting process. Speakers from local universities provide information about student finance, and resources are provided for parents.

Our tailored Oxbridge Programme is available for those with the academic profile to make successful applications to Oxford and Cambridge. The programme includes visits to the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, visits from our Oxbridge Alumni and sessions with university admissions tutors. Each student applying to Oxbridge or for Medicine, Veterinary Science and Dentistry receives one-to-one support with their personal statements and mock interviews from our specialist UCAS Advisor.

Our independent Careers Advisor provides one-to-one appointments for those targeting Higher Apprenticeships, including feedback on applications. All students receive workshops on CV writing and interview skills, as well as workshops with the National Apprenticeship Service.
